A rare and endangered king colobus monkey has been born at a zoo. Paignton Zoo in Devon said the "adorable baby", believed to be a girl, was born on 22 October after her 14-year old mother, Lola, gave birth in the monkey heights exhibit.

One of the tiny animals was dead, while the other was seen cradled in the arms of an officer, softly hooting before covering its face with its arm.

According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred on Interstate 59 near the 117-mile marker just north of Heidelberg. They said six Rhesus monkeys from Tulane University escaped. The sheriff’s office said five out of the six monkeys that escaped were “destroyed.”
